The dragon appears in myth in many forms and representing many qualities. Initially the dragon epitomises life-giving energies. These energies can by their very nature be chaotic, wild and frightening the raging storm the flashing lightening the growling thunder the howling wind etc. Mans attempt to control these forces are symbolised in the many myths of dragon slaying.

In this image the beneficent fertility bringing aspect of the dragon is represented. In the creation myths of early civilisation in the Middle East the dragon symbolised the 'Primal- Mother'. In China 'dragon-energy'' represents the power which guarantees the fertility of the land.
