Hello Everyone
Wow, here we are at Autumn Equinox already! Goodness where did the summer go? Could it be that, to be honest, here in England, it didn't feel a lot like summer!? Or maybe it's that I have just been SO busy? Or maybe it's an age thing!!! Well, whatever the reason the months have just flown by and I'm sorry I haven't been in touch since Beltane!
I do hope it's been a good summer for you.
I have been spending large chunks of time preparing and dispatching cards, prints, Goddess Wheels etc...Am just in the process of re-locating my stock (we were getting to the point of not being able to move at home!) and plan to get some help with processing orders...so that I can spend more time in my studio!! Hooray!! Thanks to everyone for your orders it's just SO exciting how well it's all going and thank you so much for all your wonderful feedback.
So much to tell you...where do I begin?
Oh, I really want to tell you about my encounters with Gloria this summer. Gloria is a Buzzard!
She introduced herself to us in late spring while we were walking in the woods. She swooped down from behind and amazingly passed through the tree canopy without making a sound...so there was no warning just a sudden great gust of air as her wings seemed to wrap around your head! A truly awesome experience!! Well we respected her message which clearly said 'keep away from my nest' and didn't walk in that part of the woods. But as the weeks passed she became more and more territorial until she would appear every day from nowhere as soon as Wiggi, (my old dig-dog) and I set foot into the field for our walk! She would shout and swoop down, (never quite as close as the first time), it became quite a game!! I guess she must have had two lots of young since her Durga-like protective mothering continued right through till mid August! Now I only see her from time to time or hear her calling her young who call back in a higher tone.
It's been a real blessing and a profound experience on lots of levels...the strength of motherhood...the wonder of freedom of flight...that almost 'all-seeing' vision...
I looked up the totemic meaning of Buzzard and it said... Buzzard shows you the possibility of a new heightened vision with increased sensitivity...Thank you Gloria!
I did a painting at the beginning of the summer called 'Lord of the Wildwood' inspired by the buzzing energy of the fertile wood. You will soon be able to see the original of this painting in the White Spring in Glastonbury and there are now A3 prints available.
This summer I did several shows...a lovely pagan gathering down in the Purbecks...the Goddess conference, (will tell you more about that in a mo) and the Goddess show North in York...a brilliantly organized event by Boktalo events and a wonderful day was had by all! Make a note in your diary for The Goddess Show South to be held 15th & 16th March in Brighton www.boktalo.co.uk/the%20goddess%20show.html
The Goddess conference, (this year was the year of the crone), was, as always, a really special time! www.goddessconference.com This year's show was particularly exciting because out the swirling soup of the crone's cauldron emerged the 'Sacred Hare'.
As you may know I have been working with the hare for a while now... My book called 'A Magical Journey' that tells the story of the wheel of the year through the journey of Luna Moon Hare will be complete by next summer!
I am teaming up with Hannah, an amazing jeweller www.willowjewellery.co.uk/work.html and Yve, a wonderful ceramicist to put together an exhibition dedicated to the 'sacred Hare'. As we talked to people at the conference wonderful links and synchronicities kept happening...the Hare energy was really coming through! ...her wildness, her strength, her connection to the earth, her magickal link with the moon. Hare awakens your sleeping self and calls you to remember...remember your wildness, remember your strength, remember your connection to the earth, remember your magickal link with the moon!
By the end of the conference we were buzzing with exciting ideas for dance, music and sacred journeying with the hare....will tell you more as it evolves!!
I've been rambling on...and haven't yet told you about my new range of greetings cards. They are based on the images from my Goddess wheel of the year. The range is called 'The Ever Changing Nature Of The Goddess' I am really thrilled with the colour and quality of this range...They can be bought individually or as a pack of all eight.
Also, the Goddess wheels have been so popular that I have had to do another print run. This time I have included both Northern and Southern hemisphere dates...they will be done by the end of next week I'll let you know as soon as they are available for purchase.
And, being printed as I write this, are a range of Yule cards... They are bright, happy and colourful and full of festive cheer....will be in touch in the next week or so with details about them.
For all of you who are waiting for news about the altar/frames...The good news is that a lovely fellow Goddess artist has given information about a company who she uses to cast her sculptures so at last I will be able to get them professionally produced for me. I will, of course, be hand-finishing them. I really hope to have some ready for Yule...will keep you up to date with their progress!
Well I think that's just about it for now...as the nights grow chilly, the mornings are wrapped in a blanket of mist and the blackberries are ripe and juicy and asking to be picked! I wish you a peaceful Autumn Equinox.
With mellow blessings
Wendy
