Here we are at Lammas! Where did those weeks since summer solstice go?
I spent summer solstice on Agistri, the tiny Greek island about an hours boat ride from Athens. It sits in a crystal turquoise sea and The Goddess breathes Her sage scented breath through the gnarled pine trees...blissful! The only down side to our stay were the thousands of wasps that didn’t seem to have anything to eat except holiday makers!! My most treasured memory of our stay there, is of practicing yoga, by the sea, at dawn as we watched the sunrise...sheer magic!
Since coming home it has been all go! I have painted the first of a series of paintings which is quite different from anything else I’ve done. It was such fun to paint...full of exuberance and folky patterning! It is ‘The Goddess Of Fire’ (Spring Equinox). I painted her as ‘Fire Goddess’ is the theme for this year’s Goddess conference. When I finished it I just felt it needed to be fabric hanging...so I have had a limited number printed onto fabric and am making them up into hangings. They look great!! They measure 40cm X 125cm so will hang beautifully on a door. They will be wonderful to hang up at the appropriate time of year and change as the wheel turns. I will let you know as soon as the Goddess of Fire hangings are ready....and also as I paint others in the series.
I have also started painting images for our exhibition in Nov - ‘Sacred Creatures Of Albion’ I have LOTS more paintings wanting to be given life......I feel so inspired!!
In the midst of the heat wave that we had, I was busy in my studio painting Yule images for this year’s Yule greetings cards! It did feel strange to be painting snowy scenes but it helped me feel cooler in the sauna-like temperatures of my studio!! I have painted a set of three images...featuring the beautiful creatures of our land...stag, badger and hare. They are tall and thin in format which I think works really well...I am really pleased with them...I do hope you will love them. They will be printed and available for purchase by the end of August.
My latest exciting news is that my ‘Luna Moon Hare’ calendars have just arrived from the printers...they look FANTASTC!!
Please note that I am off on my long time longed-for trip to India between 4th-20th Aug. I will dispatch any orders that arrive while I’m away as soon as I get home.
‘Luna Moon Hare’ the book continues to be really popular and sell well...I am having a third print run done! It has received some wonderful reviews, including a five star review this month in ‘Kindred Spirit’ magazine.
Wishing you a bountiful harvest this Lammas.
Love and golden blessings
